Last night I went out for dinner. I did not feel like cooking at all. So Lucky and I tried to go to De Outback (a restaurant/bar set in a garden just a short walk from here). Unfortunately, they were closed. So then we tried going to Wanda’s…but she also wasn’t serving dinner any more. Danny then told us we could take the car. We made our way towards Speightstown. Bombas was closed, the little bar that has Monday night karaoke and serves food didn’t appeal to us. We were heading back to the gas station to pick up beer and snacks when we saw a Chinese restaurant. Dinner was served!
The restaurant is called East Moon Chinese Cuisine & Bar and is located in Road View, St. Peter. Since we were so late, it wasn’t very busy. There was a couple of customers at one table, another pair of customers just leaving, and a man waiting for takeout at the bar. As far as I could tell, there was one front of house staff, and probably only one cook. The menu is nicely varied, and at first I was a little leery of the prices, but then I thought about it and realized they weren’t THAT bad (keep in mind, I haven’t eaten out much this trip, so I’d forgotten how restaurants were priced).
Appetizers ranged from $6-$28 bbd (for a spring roll up to breaded jumbo shrimp). The rest of the menu ranges from $9-$69 (that last item is lobster). They also have family dinners available for takeout. Lucky and I decided to share a couple of items. I started with a spring roll, she had fries with curry sauce on the side (which I will admit was strangely tasty). We then shared an order of Beef in Black Bean and Pepper Sauce, and an order of Shrimp Low Mein. We each had a couple of Banks and our total came to $77 bbd ($38.50 US). The food was really good. Everything was really fresh. We both left full, but not stuffed and gross. And I wasn’t hungry 2 hours later.
In other news, the past few days have been busy. With work. And not resumes. Due to the poor housekeeper coming down with chicken pox, I’ve been helping out with some housework around here. Yesterday and today I was helping with the power-washing of two of the apartments. I got to vacuum up water. Let me tell you, vacuuming water is hard. It seems like the water will never be all sucked up. Tomorrow we’ll finish up the big unit and then put all of the stuff back in both apartments. Then we’ll only have 4 more units to go.
