Job Fair Update

job-fair-2016

The Job Fair was interesting. And busy. So busy. There was a lineup out the door when I got there at 3pm. Most of the jobs were for things I am nowhere near qualified for, or interested in doing: window installers, fiberglass fillers, auto part sales people, delivery drivers. Or else they were specifically looking for students and weren’t taking resumes from adults.

However, I did hand out six resumes, for eight different positions. Both Tim Hortons locations are hiring bakers, as well as customer service jobs. Wendy’s and McDonalds are both hiring cooks/customer service people. The Prior, a sports bar here in Arnprior is looking for p/t cooks and dishwashers. M & M Meats is looking for p/t customer service help. All of these places said they’d call next week to schedule interviews. And lastly, a new pub is opening up here in August, and they are looking to hire a responsible, trustworthy Baker and Prep Cook. I met with the Head Chef, and he seemed really impressed with me. So, we’ll see how that pans out.

Next week, I’ll phone my career counselor at ONTrac and see what the next steps are.
