Beautiful Sunsets I’ve been Privileged to Witness

I love sunsets. Don’t get me wrong, sunrises are also beautiful but they happen far too early in the day. Sunsets happen at a time of day I can get behind. I love the beautiful colours that appear in the sky. I love feeling the world getting ready for sleep. And I love knowing that whatever happened today is over, and I can start again tomorrow.

Lower Carlton, Barbados

Over the years I have been so privileged to witness some jaw-dropping sunsets. Most of them while in Barbados. I swear, the West Coast of Barbados has some of the most amazing sunsets I’ve ever seen. Watching the sun drop into the ocean at the end of the day makes me feel so powerless against the forces of nature.

Goodnight, Mr. Sun.

I’m not sure exactly why the sunsets in Barbados are so beautiful. But I think it must be some combination of the salty water and the warm air, but whatever it is, things come together to create spectacular displays of colour. The sunset pictured below happened on a day it rained. I have never seen colours like this before in my life. I sat on the beach and honestly, I cried, because it was THAT beautiful.

Jaw dropping sunset

No sunset is ever the same. Different cloud formations in the sky change the way the sunlight bounces around.

Another sweet sunset

I love how peaceful everything is. The waves get calm, the birds get quiet, and the water is warm and soothing. Everything is right in the world. At least in that moment.

Enjoying a peaceful moment

I want to thank Discovering Your Happiness for the inspiration for this post. Seeing your picture of a Sydney sunset sure got me thinking about all the beautiful sunsets I’ve seen.

  2. Wow, those are beautiful! We have some nice ones in Phoenix, but I’m told it’s our pollution that makes them so colorful. Nice to know nature can put on an even better show!
